UNDERSTAND THE PLACE

Why Jim Corbett?

Jim Corbett is one of India's most celebrated wildlife destinations and the gateway to Corbett National Park and Corbett Tiger Reserve in Uttarakhand.

Established in 1936, Corbett is India's first national park. Set in the Himalayan foothills, the landscape combines dense Sal forests, open grasslands, river valleys, streams and diverse wildlife habitats.

The region is particularly famous for the Royal Bengal tiger and Asiatic elephant, while visitors may also encounter several species of deer, crocodiles, leopards and a remarkable variety of resident and migratory birds.

Wildlife safaris are among the destination's signature experiences. Different tourism zones offer distinct landscapes and experiences, with access controlled by the forest authorities and subject to permits, operating seasons and prevailing conditions.

Beyond safaris, travellers can explore attractions such as Garjiya Devi Temple, Corbett Waterfall, Sitabani forest, Corbett Museum and the wider Kumaon countryside. Birdwatching, nature photography, local experiences and seasonal river activities add further variety to a Corbett holiday.

With wildlife resorts, forest experiences and easy access through Ramnagar, Jim Corbett works particularly well for wildlife holidays, family breaks, photography trips, nature escapes and short getaways from Delhi and northern India.
